Generators

A generator is only as good as its connection.

A transfer switch at the panel keeps the generator and the utility lines apart, so the house runs on one or the other, never both at once. That is what keeps generator power from feeding back into the lines outside.

We install the generator, run the connection and set the transfer switch. Before the hookup, we check the panel and the circuits you want to keep running.

On a new build or an addition, the generator connection can be planned with the rest of the electrical.

Where a generator fits

  • At the panel

The transfer switch sits with the panel, so the panel check comes first.

  • In a new build

The connection is planned with the rest of the electrical, before the walls close.

What does a transfer switch do?

It connects the house to the generator or to the utility, never both at once. That keeps generator power from feeding back into the lines outside.

Yes. Generator installation, hookups and transfer switches are all part of the work we do.

Do you pull the permit?
